About this exhibit

A room, a small fire under a table, and ten of the internet's most famous faces to see what each one does about it. None is a photograph: every meme is drawn as the pose that still carries it, on the museum's own figure, in flat colour and ink. The dog at the table raises its mug. A boyfriend's head turns back to the flames while his girlfriend glares. A yellow mouse is surprised by a spark. A picture on the wall declines the extinguisher she holds up and approves the marshmallows; a man with a ring warns, in the lettering every meme is set in, that one does not simply put out a fire; the brain on the wall climbs a tier for every idea the room has; a Shiba narrates it all in Comic Sans. When she finally reaches the exit, the door opens on a man in a trench coat, dancing, under the words you knew were coming, and everyone stays to watch. Then a cat made of fat pixels flies through the smoke on a rainbow and puts the fire out as it passes, and a small girl in the ash smiles at you while something behind her catches again. Move, and the boyfriend's head follows you. Tap to surprise the mouse. Hold over the fire to smother it, and hear what the dog has to say when you stop. Try the door yourself, if you dare.
